Get to Know CSI’s Student Resources

Learn about what CSI has to offer!

Attending virtual classes has been difficult for all students, especially freshmen. It is important to get the most out of your college experience, even if it is on Zoom or over the phone! Get to know your college more with these accessible resources:

The Writing Center:

Under the direction of the CSI English department, the writing center staff are determined to help students improve their academic writing in all subjects. Students are given useful advice from tutors and help you fulfill any of their writing or reading needs. You can email The Writing Center at WritingCenter@csi.cuny.edu to make your appointment today. 

CASA Tutoring:

The CASA Tutoring center has a no appointment necessary policy and is open seven days a week. As CSI remains online, CASA tutoring will be offered through Blackboard Collaborate. For more information, you can reach out to them by email at oas@csi.cuny.edu or by calling 1(347) 422-6243.

Counseling Center:

The Counseling Center is now operating virtually, with a phone or video counseling option available. If you or a student you know needs counseling, CSI’s Counseling Center is a safe space where the staff is committed to assisting students with any personal or academic problems. If you or someone you know, you can call the 24/7 phone service and get immediate support at 1 (718) 982-2391. Counseling is free and confidential for all registered CSI students. 

 

LGBTQ Resource Center:

The LGBTQ Resource Center at CSI is dedicated to providing a safe space for LGBTQ community members and allies. This center is a confidential, safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community to develop new friendships and surround themselves with support. Campus Activity Board: 

CSI offers a ton of opportunities for students to get involved. With over 50 clubs and student-run organizations on campus, the options are endless! Joining a club here at CSI will help you further your resume, develop new friendships, and take pride in our college community. Clubs are funded through our student activity fees and you can even start your own! Club hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-4:25 pm, however, meeting times vary by club. You can find them on Instagram @csicab, or contact them by email or phone at studentlife@csi.cuny.edu or 1 (718) 982-2816.

 

Academic Advisement: 

The Center for Advising and Academic Success works with academic departments, faculty members, and more to help students progress in their academic careers at CSI. The Center offers advice in majors and minors and can even help you with applications for specialty programs. They help students with general education requirements, DegreeWorks, and more! You can contact them by phone at 1 (718) 982-2280, email at advisement@csi.cuny.edu, or ask an advisor for a live virtual advisement session Monday-Thursday from 9 am-5 pm. 

 

Technology Training’s Virtual Open Computer Lab:

If you have a question, a college assistant can help you! Their schedule is Monday-Thursday from 7 am-10 pm, Friday from 9 am-6 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am-1 pm. They can be reached by email at TechnologyTraining@csi.cuny.edu

 

SEEK Program:

The SEEK Program’s mission is to provide college access, promote academic success and help students with personal achievements. The program provides all things from counseling, academic, financial, and other support. Their mission is to provide higher education to students who would not have access to these resources. The office is now operating virtually Monday-Friday from 9 am-5 pm, you can contact them via email at SEEK@csi.cuny.edu or phone at 1(718) 982-2410. 

 

ASAP Program:

The ASAP program provides a variety of support towards student’s achievement of their prospective degrees. When you become an ASAP student you can receive funding towards textbooks, priority class registration, a free monthly MetroCard and so much more. ASAP will be operating virtually on Monday-Friday from 9 am-5 pm. You can contact them by email at ASAP@csi.cuny.edu from your CIX email or by phone at 1(718) 982-3200. 

 

CSI Connect: 

CSI Connect is a great way to stay updated on all things campus-related. On CSI Connect you can search for upcoming events by using keywords and even view the clubs and organizations. You can check it out at https://csi.campuslabs.com/engage/ and see what events our school is offering today!
