The latest Apple lineup will change how people interact with each other and their phones.
On Sep. 7, Apple Inc. announced their new lineup of products at their annual special event hosted at the Steve Jobs Theater. The latest products are considered by some to be the most innovative products that Apple has released in decades. There were various new releases across major technology categories.
In the iPhone category, Apple released their long-awaited iPhone 14 along with the iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. These latest iPhones have added many additional features to the iPhone 13 including, a faster processor, more GPU cores, the longest battery life ever, state-of-the-art emergency handling, and many more. The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be available Sep. 16, and the iPhone 14 Plus will be available Oct. 7.
In their Airpods category, they have released the long-awaited second-generation Airpods Pro. The new Airpods Pro has the same functionality as the previous generation—one click for pause, two clicks to fast forward, and three clicks to go backward—plus the long-awaited gesture volume change; by sliding your finger up or down the stem of the Airpods Pro you will either increase or decrease the volume, respectively. The Airpods Pro second generation will be available Sep. 23.
In their Apple Watches category, they have released the new Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra, and Apple Watch SE. Some of the features of the Apple Watch SE are retina display, high and low blood pressure notification, cycle tracking, and emergency handling; the Apple Watch Series 8 has the same features as the Apple Watch SE, but with the ECG app and blood oxygen app; the Apple Watch Ultra has the same features as the Apple Watch Series 8, but with the more reinforcement, perfect for extreme environments. The Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 8 will be available on Sep. 16, and the Apple Watch Ultra will be available on Sep. 23.
In their MacBook category, a new MacBook Air was released; this MacBook Air contains the latest M2 Chip, which is the fastest ARM processor developed by Apple yet. A new MacBook Pro 13” was also released which also has the latest M2 Chip, along with other features including more brightness, more colors, and better audio quality. The new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are available now.
In the iPad category, Apple released a new iPad Air. This is the first iPad model, except the iPad Pro, which has the Latest Apple M1 Chip. This makes the iPad Air one of the fastest and most affordable iPads yet! The iPad Air is available now.
Finally, Apple announced their new mobile operating system, IOS16! In this latest major version of IOS, Apple put an emphasis on personalization and customization. To meet these ends, Apple has fully revolutionized its lock screen. The lock screen is now able to be fully customized with different fonts, images that blend into the time, widgets, live activities feed, and many mode features.
Apple is also launching the new focus feature; this allows you to create and customize settings that reflect your current state with your iPhone, allowing you to put boundaries between you and your apps. This is a great feature for a college student like you; you can create a study mode that blocks all distractions and whenever you’re about to study, you can turn on the study mode and watch all your assignments disappear.
With IOS16, you can now edit recently sent messages! No more having to fix the mistake by sending another message with an asterisk. You still cannot delete recently sent messages, but it seems like Apple might be building up to that feature. There are many more features that are included with the release of IOS16 that were not mentioned here due to brevity. IOS16 will be available on Sep. 12.
The latest iPhones have the most security extensions of all iPhones designed. On the day of the Apple special event, Globalstar, Inc., an American satellite communications company, announced in a Form 8-K filing that they have partnered with Apple and have signed an agreement to allocate 85% of their current and future network to Apple.
Apple will be using a majority of the network for its new Emergency SOS feature; this feature allows you to send an emergency text over a satellite when you don’t have any wifi or cell service. The new iPhone also has crash detection which will send out an emergency message automatically if it detects that you were in a car accident.
The decision to upgrade your products is your and your family’s personal decision, but the latest iPhone release, along with the other technologies, marks another historical moment for Apple Inc.
