As we start to acclimate to our new Spring semester schedules, you will notice the not so subtle changes the college has made to the campus over winter break, including the new tap to pay system and a new addition to the library’s cafe.
CSI debuted its new contactless payment system during the winter semester, a long-awaited upgrade that expands payment options beyond Cash, FinBucks, and outdated chip readers. Students, faculty, and staff members can now utilize Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Wallet, and other tap-to-pay methods.
Gone are the days of waiting in line while you awkwardly stuff cash back into your wallet as a long line of students waits behind you, or as you try your second physical card after the machine rejected the first one.
The new tap to pay system can also be found in the Cafe’s new Chick-fil-A, a new spot for many on campus to grab a quick bite to eat.
“I think that Chick-fil-A being on campus adds to campus dining because it gives students a known and popular food chain option that students are more familiar with,” said Paul, a Junior at the college. “But, I would like to see the full menu being sold soon. I want the iconic fries, lol.”
This new system has already proven to be successful this semester, with shorter lines at the cafeteria and library cafe resulting in fewer frustrated students and more options for when they get the munchies.
