CUNY is seeking to raise tuition at its senior colleges by $250 for the next four years, according to a draft of its operating budget request.

Over the last five years, CUNY implemented the Rational Tuition Plan, which increased undergraduate tuition by $300 a year for five years.

Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature — in the midst of a budget fight that involved CUNY, city government and state officials — rejected CUNY’s proposal to reinstate the Rational Tuition Plan last year and passed a tuition freeze for fiscal year 2016-17.
