With the holiday season underway, there are a number of things that can properly get you ready to celebrate.

If you are a Christmas lover like many of us are, you have been waiting to do some of these things since last December 26 and the time has finally come around again.

A staple event that will get yourself ready for the Christmas season is a great holiday playlist.

Whether it is through Spotify, Apple Music or just plain iTunes, having your favorite set of Christmas songs all in one place is the perfect way to kickoff the season.

Just because 106.7 doesn’t start playing everyone’s favorite Christmas songs until the day after Thanksgiving, does not mean you have to wait.

Creating your perfect Christmas playlist can get you in the spirit, while also keeping you sane as the fall semester comes to an end.

If you are anything like I am, you look forward to Freeform’s Countdown to Christmas and 25 Days of Christmas, where the channel plays multiple Christmas movies a day up until December 25.

It is a celebration that every Christmas lover could get excited for. However, even if you are not thrilled about some of the movies that Freeform offers, you can always hold your own Christmas movie marathon with your friends or even by yourself.

Netflix has some great options as well. Having a movie marathon with some cozy blankets and Christmas lights could definitely make for a great time.

If you are a Christmas enthusiast who is a little more artistic and creative, you should love this next option: making your own gingerbread house!

Around this time of year, there are a great number of stores that sell kits to construct your own house such as Target or Christmas Tree Shop.

There is nothing quite like getting together with friends and family for arguably the most wonderful time of the year.

You can even turn it into a competition to see who could make the best gingerbread house or who could finish their house the fastest. With some Christmas music or a Christmas film playing in the background, this is sure to get everyone in the spirit.

Luckily for us Staten Islanders, we only live a ferry-ride away from one of the greatest cities in the world, Manhattan.

Though New York City is amazing during any time of the year, it seems to be particularly breathtaking during Christmas.

Something everyone must do if they are visiting New York City during Christmas time is visit the Rockefeller Tree in the heart of Manhattan.

On November 29, the tree will be illuminated, provoking couples, families, friends, and just about anyone else to go and take a picture in front of the stunning 75-foot tall Christmas tree.

While you are in the area, the Radio City’s Rockettes is a must-see for everyone at least once.

People who reviewed the show on TripAdvisor had nothing but fantastic things to say about the show, describing it as an “excellent show for any age” and a “must see when in New York,” and it would be hard to say that I disagree.

Though these are some of the standard greatest things to do during the Christmas season, everyone is different.

Some people prefer to go Christmas caroling with family or throw a holiday ugly sweater party with friends.

As the fall 2017 semester comes to a close, it is safe to say that we all deserve some relaxation during this holiday season by doing whatever activities you personally enjoy to get you in the spirit.

Happy celebrating, everyone!
