Staten Island’s very own Pete Davidson, like many other comedians before him, has now landed a Netflix comedy special where he talks about his career in SNL, living with his mom and yes, Ariana Grande.

He starts off the show talking about Saturday Night Live and his weed smoking problems. He got many laughs throughout the show, but aside from the giggles, he got some “oos” from the audience.

Before touching on Ariana Grande, Davidson explains his joke that received a lot of criticism, about politician Dan Crenshaw and his eye patch. On the “Updates” segment on SNL, Davidson referred to Crenshaw as looking like “a hitman in a porno,” and soon after apologized, for he knew he “lost his eye in a war or whatever.” This expression led people to criticize Davidson and his lack of knowledge on how Crenshaw lost his eye.

“The only thing I did do, which I am guilty of, and I apologize for is I did make that guy famous and a household name for no reason,” said Davidson. “I did what like Ariana Grande did for me, right?”

Later Davidson began to explain that he didn’t want to initially speak or make jokes about his past relationship with Grande on his comedy special, until he had heard her own statements about him. In her latest interview with Vogue Magazine, Ariana Grande referred to her relationship with Pete Davidson as a “distraction” and “had no idea who he was.”

“Can you imagine if I did that? My career would be over tomorrow,” said Davidson. “If I spray painted myself brown and hopped on the cover of Vogue magazine and just started shitting on my ex.”

Did Ariana go too far? We always talk about gender inequality and how impactful it can be in media and Hollywood. This is a perfect example of how double standards could occur in any situation.

Davidson also referred to her tanned skin in the Vogue cover shoot, which also received a lot of controversy. Some people even referred to it as “blackface,”since Ariana Grande is fair skinned.

He also talked about Grande’s song “Thank U, Next” where she lists off her ex boyfriends and mentions Pete Davidson. His friends and family all supported him during the breakup but couldn’t get over the fact that they still loved the song! They thought it was “catchy” and a “slap.”

“I don’t like that she talked all this shit on behalf of my dick,” said Davidson. “I thought that was really weird because everybody was like, what a nice girl. Can you imagine if I said that?”

He referred to the music video for “Thank U, Next” where Ariana hints at the size of Pete Davidson’s penis and refers to it as “huge.” He proceeded to explain that he didn’t like this comment because of the double standard it holds. If he would’ve said something along the same lines, he would have been harshly criticized.

Although apparently everyone else believes that Ariana gave him this “compliment” because she was being nice, Pete Davidson thought she had another plan in mind. Even though he does compliment her on her intelligence and refers to her as a “genius” because of it, its not for the reasons we believe.

“She did that so that every girl that sees my dick for the rest of my life is disappointed,” said Davidson. “It’s genius! That’s a lifetime L.”
