As students settle into their fall semester, there are several resources that they may not know about. The college and CUNY have established a plethora of online services and applications for you to use on your remote learning journey.
Check out The Banner’s list of top technology resources and links you should know about as a CSI student!
Zoom
To start, every student has access to a free Zoom account. Visit cuny.zoom.us, click on “sign in,” and enter your CUNY login credentials. This will take you to your Zoom account page.
Your free account comes with features of a paid Zoom account, including unlimited time for meetings and the option to record sessions.
Office 365
In addition, every student has a Microsoft Office 365 account. Visit mail.office365.com to log into your CSI account. Your username should follow this format: firstname.lastname@cix.csi.cuny.edu
Office 365 gives you access to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other helpful applications to help you succeed in an online environment.
Adobe Creative Cloud
CUNY recently granted students access to Adobe Creative Cloud, which offers a variety of professional programs designed for photography, graphic design, and editing use.
Virtual Open Lab
Although on-campus computer labs are closed, students can visit the virtual open lab for technology-related inquiries. There, they can speak to a member of CSI’s
Technology Training Team.
The virtual computer lab is available Monday – Thursday from 7:00 am – 10:00 pm, Friday from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, and Saturday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
For additional information and questions, contact TechnologyTraining@csi.cuny.edu or report a specific problem to the HelpDesk.
Remote Computer Access
CSI students can use hundreds of physical computers on campus by connecting to them remotely. This allows you to use the general and specialized software on-campus computers that are not available on your home device.
Click here for documentation and video tutorials on how to connect from a Windows or Mac computer, iPad, or Chromebook. Remote access to these computers is available 7 days a week with the exception of 12:00 am – 3:00 am every night for maintenance purposes.
CSI Library
Students can still conduct research and explore online collections at the library. Just use your SLAS information (the credentials to log into the computers on campus) to access the library from your home device.
If you forgot your SLAS password, or if it expired, visit the self-service reset page to create a new one.
Device Loan
Did you request a remote learning device from CUNY for the semester? Contact studentsuccess@csi.cuny.edu for questions and information about your loaner device.
Make the most of this semester by taking advantage of CSI/CUNY’s FREE and helpful online resources!
