How long have you been waiting?

Our students are active on campus! Figuratively as well as literally, even if you’re commuting in a nice vehicle, you’re still patiently waiting for your school day to start. The line of cars on the intersection of Victory Blvd. and Loop Rd. Considered the main way to get on and off the CSI campus, has been a constant issue. If you are a commuter with a car, you’ll know the moment of attempting to make the light after the long-awaited line, even if that means blocking the intersection is your only alternative. This perfectly describes our main road, Forest Hill Rd, and the cross-section between campus road, D St. where no traffic control is being upheld, the Back Gate exit of CSI often has cars piled up.

Was there any preventative action upheld? According to long-term CSI staff Annie Hernandez, an NYPD traffic safety control guard was posted at these intersections during heavy traffic hours to conduct order and ensure people respect the road as much as possible. Whether you’re an average full-time student or part-time and work out of the area, you’ll need an efficient route to make your classes or exams on time. Increasing the traffic control may provide safety and organization to the campus community.

Have these traffic issues caused any stress in your school day? Predicted inconvenience is something we expect in our day-to-day living in NYC but that doesn’t mean acceptance is our only solution, we can inform and encourage change where it is needed. When problems occur, there should be ways for effective solutions, let’s encourage improvements to be made with consideration to campus life.

  1. I like how you included a motivational call to action at the end, but something tells me that the presence of traffic guards will be the only answer for a long time.
