Madonna Celebration Tour: Concert Review

By Jillian Miano

The 80’s pop sensation Madonna has gone on tour. She is performing four decades of its such as, vogue, erotica, justify my love, and so many more. I had the pleasure of attending one of the performances! This happened at Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York on December 16th, 2023. The concert was scheduled to start at 8:30pm but didn’t start until 10:20pm.
The show started with a drag queen called Bob the Drag queen. Bob was dressed in the MTV music awards 1990s renaissance vogue gown equipped with a head piece and foldable hand fan. The music was interluded together with hits such as, Lucky Star, Material girl, and so many others as she expressed how Madonna started and taught us so many things in this world whether it be inappropriate of not. Then the Queen of Pop herself took the stage wearing a long black robe/dress attire
with a goddess type headpiece as if she were reminding everyone in the audience that she started it all.

The singer changed out of the attire she was in and dawned a blue full length bustier with a short black skirt with little heels. Madonna sang hits such as Into the Groove, Everybody, Holiday, and even a little bit of causing a commotion. A disco ball lit up the arena like a huge party, and the audience were standing singing and dancing. She also sang songs for
instance Like a prayer, Live to tell where she honored all the lives lost to the Aids pandemic, hung up, and so much more. There many costume changes through the entire show.

The concert was three hours long filled with old sets from previous concerts. One set appearance that was made was the red velvet bed from the Blonde Ambition Tour from 1990. She paid tribute to her late mother who passed away when the artist was only 5 years old. Also, she paid tribute to King of Pop Michael Jackson with a dancer dressed up as him.
performing Billie Jean. Pictures were flashing of the two pop icons together leaving us with the words “Never Can Say Goodbye.” The end of the show she had all her dancers dressed up as different alter egos and characters from movies to represent what the singer built through the years as a legacy.
