Politics vs. The Youth

History will never stop being made, as long as we are here to keep it going.

With the 2024 presidential election coming this November and with the many intense controversies that have come up between both the democratic and republican parties, many Americans are anxious to see who the next head of state will be this coming fall.

Although our government’s future has been left in the hands of many first-time voters, many of these Americans feel the importance of their vote. Lately, the one question to ask has been “did you vote?”.

Some have said that those who do not vote are in fact giving their win away, which makes it difficult to have a fair fight. Politics is a topic that never stops moving, it involves so much history to understand and legal language to decode. This can make it even more tricky to get the message across to younger voters, the ones who need to hear it the most.

It is not common to find young adult men and women who give a lot of attention to the status of their government. While others find it uninteresting, the future holds greater possibilities than we realize. Young voters feel that the polls are a gamble and that their vote won’t make any real impact. There is no better time than now to make a difference in our faith, both in American citizens and in the faith of our U.S. government in order for it to become what it must be for its people.

It does not take much to notice how much of our checks are deducted from taxes or the casual yet constant increase in gas prices. It is time for our elders to take a backseat and for our students and young adults to get to work. Take back control over inflation, create long lasting careers and finally having the ability to own property before we turn 50. With the future generations to follow, do we want to leave a mark of opportunities for them? The answer to that question lies in our decision to take back control through our civil liberties.
