Packed like a pack of sardines

CSI is dealing with overcrowding, which affects many students and teachers. It creates struggles for the learning experience and stressful environments that can delay educational success.
“CSI is the largest campus in New York City, covering 204 acres,” said U.S. News & World Report. “With an enrollment of 10,736 students in the fall semester of 2023.”
With this number of students and about 300 classrooms on campus, you would think there would be enough room for all, right?
Well, from personal experience, some students would say no, to be honest…
Imagine walking into a classroom and seeing fellow students shoulder to shoulder in a stuffy room, unable to pass the first row of desks.
Squeezing uncomfortably through small cracks of space while stepping on bags, shoes, and coats by accident just to get to your seat.
It feels as though you are invading your classmates’ space, unintentionally, simply by sitting at your desk. This causes anxiety, stress, and other negative feelings just by entering the class.
This overcrowding makes it hard to focus and learn, and it is difficult for teachers to get through lectures effectively.
To help solve this problem, we should consider solutions like reducing classroom sizes, using additional unoccupied spaces, and adding split schedules to avoid overcrowding.
As the saying goes, “You can’t pour knowledge into a cup that’s already overflowing.”
