He listened to the intricate beats and powerful lyrics when he felt an overwhelming urge to create something similar. With a laptop and some free time, he began experimenting with sounds, crafting beats that echoed through his bedroom like a declaration of creativity. From that moment on, he was hooked; spending every spare moment perfecting his craft, driven by a desire to express himself through music.

For Mwesiga, music is not like how it may be for most people such as something to listen to for fun. It is something much deeper and harder to understand. As an avid listener, he does not just judge a song based off just listening but he dissects it, making it so he gives the artists a fair chance and a fair review before judging it. Those early sessions by himself or with friends, filled with trial and error, laughter, and discovery, sparked a passion that continues to drive him today.

Bringing his vision to life

But his love for music and wanting to explore and know further than just the surface has inspired him to be a self taught producer and creator of music. He currently makes beats, writes lyrics and poems while also experimenting with sound. He does not do it for fame or money but for personal fulfillment and creative connection with friends that allow him and friends to fully emerge himself into the musical experience, creating a better understanding of it.

Being inspired by the hip-hop’s rhythm and the complexity and the soulfulness of different R&B artists like SZA and Frank Ocean, Mwesiga is constantly on a deep dive into all kinds of albums and studying different genres. His journey into music was not just about personal enjoyment but it was about fairness in regards to the artist.

“I wanted to make music myself so I could properly appreciate and understand it before judging it,” he said.

However his mindset and talent also extends beyond just music and beat creating. He is also interested in engineering and sound production. He works with all kind of technical and behind the scenes art using his imagination and creativity.

Beyond his hobbies, he is hoping to one day pursue a career in some type of media or even social work fields regarding kids where his passions can continue to shine and he can help others; hoping to be able to combine all of his talents and interests to be successful in life. Right now, he currently works with special needs children helping to make a difference and spread love.

Beyond music, in the past, he has channeled his creativity into filming and editing at home basketball videos, blending his love for sports with his hopeful developing skills in video editing and creating.

“I am not the best at editing just yet,” he said, “but I would like to get into it more often and hopefully improve.”
