Captain America Brave New World is the 35th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the fourth entry in The Captain America film franchise.

For my whole life I have been the biggest MCU fan. I’ve seen every movie, every TV show, every special presentation, you name it, I will know it.
I was excited to see the movie but due to Marvel’s recent track record of their movies not being so great, I was a bit worried going into the film. But now after seeing the movie, here are my thoughts.
Captain America Brave New World is a fine but very flawed film. The best thing about this film is easily the political aspects; it is a great political thriller. Anthony Mackie cements himself as the new Captain America and was fantastic in the film. Harrison Ford gives it his all as Thunderbolt Ross, and with what we got of Red Hulk, it was great seeing him in action for the little time he is in the film.
The action sequences are some of the best the MCU has to offer. While there were a few wonky shots, the visual effects in this film were mostly great, and the movie has your typical MCU humor which I really enjoy.
But the movie also has its downsides.
My biggest issue with the film is that you can tell this movie went through so many rewrites and was reshot to death. Lots of plot lines were cut, and some characters either had reduced screen time or were just completely cut out of the film entirely. There were so many characters that were wasted and served no purpose to the story, and the main villain of the film is hands down one of the worst and most disappointing villains in the entire MCU. This issue affected my experience watching the film.
This movie also just feels like an Incredible Hulk sequel with Captain America shoehorned into it. Although I do not think it is a bad thing because it kind of fits with the story they were telling; however, I still wish it was centered more as a Captain America film.
Lastly, in my opinion, this film does not feel like it has any importance to the multiverse saga and the overarching story they are telling. The only connection we get to the overarching story is the post credit scene, which was completely botched and is easily one of the worst credit scenes in the entire MCU. I wish Marvel would stick with their original plan for the movie instead of re-shooting this movie to death and causing the final cut to just be such a mess.
Overall, this film is just a mixed bag; nothing amazing but also nothing terrible. I had a bit of fun and enjoyed the film for what it was. In my opinion, this movie had so much potential and could have been great, but unfortunately it was not. I would recommend going into this movie with low expectations just like I did to not get disappointed. I rated this movie 3.5/5 stars on Letter Box. I pray this is the last mid marvel movie and hope the future of the MCU looks bright.
