DIY or Imitate Your Favorite Celebrities to be a Hit
By Gisselly Balacer
Halloween’s coming up and I’ve got the scoop on some of the best and worst costumes for couples and singles. Halloween is the time of year when people can dress up as their favorite character or alter ego without being worried about being judged. This time of year is chosen to show off your significant other as Grease’s Sandy and Danny, or pop lock and drop it alone as Nicki Minaj or Kanye West.
Who doesn’t love to win the costume contest?
Being in a relationship during Halloween can be super exciting. Just the idea of looking for the right costume for your partner and coordinating can be hectic, but looking for something creative enough to show off to that dull ex of yours is satisfying enough.
Many of our favorite celebrity couples can help us determine which direction we want our costumes to go. You can go in a more kid friendly direction like MTV’s Jersey Shore Nicole Polizzi, also known as Snooki and her husband Jionni Lavelle in 2013, when they dressed up as Dorothy and the Scarecrow from “The Wizard of Oz,” or if you would like to follow a more common trend, superheroes are almost always a win-win.
Something like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in 2012 when they hit the Miami strip as Batman and Catwoman. And if you have another set of couples that you want to team up with, you can always continue the theme like Kourtney Kardashian and the now former Scott Disick as the famous Batman and Robin.
But while finding a boyfriend for everyone is not that easy, costumes for one are easier to find than a boyfriend for us girls. For girls it is much easier to decide whether you’ll be the clown, cat or Hermione from Harry Potter.
For couples, it is easier for to be influenced by celebrities, but for the single gal ready to hit the town, she can pretty much be anything. Some of the many costumes influenced by society trends today vary from Flo from the Progressive commercials, for the city girl who watches too much television to Suga Mama from “The Proud Family” for the girl who is more on the comedic old school side.
And then we have those ladies that are single and ready to mingle with just about anyone who is willing look and touch. Quick to look for their shortest nude dress and be Kim Kardashian for the night, head out as Playboy Bunny Crystal Harris or turn into the sexy devil that every guy fantasizes about like Coco Austin did 2015.
As time went by the scary witches became less scary and sexier for unknown reasons. But who is to say that it’s wrong.
Although the options are much wider for women than it is for guys, which does not mean that it is impossible for them to find anything. Many guys, especially single ones, do not enjoy this time of year where you have to dress up to be let in a party.
But then there are the ones who can appreciate the holiday spirit and dress up like the scary, creepy masked killers from the “Purge.” Guys’ costumes range from comedy like Where’s Waldo, to The Joker. Many male celebrities to stick with “Star Wars” characters, superheroes, or masked killers. Pretty basic ideas.
In the end what matters is that you can scratch off another successful Halloween even if you did not win the contest because you had a great costume from this list.
