Terrifier 3: A Horrifically Jolly Film

Looks like Art’s getting coal this Christmas.

Twas the night before Christmas

And all through the house,

Not a creature was stirring,

Not even the kids, because Art hacked them to bits!

There’s pushing the envelope, then there’s ripping it to shreds. Damien Leone has done the latter, and I’ll leave it up to you to decide if that’s a good thing.

With a budget increase from $250,000 to $2 million, it was obvious the gore factor and gruesome special effects would improve, but one could not predict the depravity of the kills in this film. Many have said nothing could top the bedroom scene from Terrifier 2, but that doesn’t even come close to almost all the kills in this film.

In the same sense as the first two, there is still minimal plot and the focus is more on how extreme the kills can be, but at least this one had better story continuation than the first one to the second one did.

Art may be a silent clown, with a very mime-esc style, but the humor he brought out in this film trumps the others, really giving Art a ‘voice’. It seemed Art truly has personal beef with Sienna after seeing his comedic slaps to the back of the head. You wouldn’t usually expect to laugh so much at a horror film, but I guess you also wouldn’t expect Santa to murder children, so all bets are off for expectations of this film.

While Christmas horror is more of a niche genre in the horror world, this film has embodied all its aspects; making it the holly jolliest horror film of the season. Even Santa had high praises for Art, albeit short lived.

While the film did end with a major cliffhanger, it did its job of leaving the watcher itching for movie four to come out faster than humanly possible. All in all, even with a slight lack of a real plot, Art & Damien have killed it once again, in more ways than imaginable.
