24 years. 8,766 days. 210,384 hours. The time that has passed since the tragic events of 9/11 has grown longer, but the pain still feels recent.

Thanks to the CSI groundskeepers, vibrant flowers were placed around the memorial.

Yesterday, the tribute was held on the campus lawn near the flower-adorned memorial, where Robert Kee and CSI President Timothy Lynch delivered beautiful welcome messages to open the ceremony. Student Maksim Nam performed an emotional, instrumental piece on his guitar that he composed.

Maksim Nam put on a beautiful performance of his own work.

Distinguished professor Tyehimba Jess evoked strong feelings when he read his captivating poem “Twenty Five Septembers.” His poem touched on a time before and after 9/11 and a shift we all felt.

“Twenty Five Septembers” touched the crowd with it’s deep words.

The names of CSI alumni who lost their lives on that horrific day were read by CSI Alumni Board of Directors member and class of ‘92 alumna, Debra Denmark. Each name heavier than the last, spoken with grief and sorrow.

Debra Denmark paid tribute to her cousin who lost his life in the attacks, while she read the alumni names.

United States Navy Veteran and Director of Veteran Support Services, Laura Scazzafavo, ended the ceremony with closing thoughts filled with remembrance.

The ceremony came to a close after insightful and deep closing thoughts by Laura Scazzafavo.

CSI’s tribute was beautifully done and clearly showed how the fallen men and women will always be remembered.

White carnations were handed to guests for them to place at the foot of the alumni memorial.
