“Hoppers” Film Review – A Beavertastic Hit!

Pixar’s newest film has hopped its way to the top of the box office and straight into everyone’s hearts.

What if there was a way to conversate with animals and work together to save their habitats? With the new science called “hopping,” now you can! Well only if you live in Beaverton that is.

Pixar has once again managed to make me laugh, smile non stop, and cry at a cartoon. They seem to have a knack for that.

This film did a wonderful job in how they portrayed the serious message about deforestation and animal displacement while still keeping the movie fun and silly. The messages were done in an age appropriate way that could even have a child notice that the animals no longer have their homes. It’s the Pixar way to show a message well enough for a child to understand it in their own way and for the adults to grasp the strong undertone of the true important meaning.

Each animal in this film was given such big personalities that fit so well and honestly Mabel, King George, Ellen, Loaf, and Tom the lizard are an animal friend group I want to be part of. The group constantly made me laugh. I never would have imagined Beavers would be so funny and Loaf is officially my new spirit animal.

The film did a great job with how much emotion it evoked in the audience. Most of Mabel’s storyline made me cry and I said “awwwwh” over and over throughout the movie because of so many sweet or sad moments. The sad squeaks from King George to Mabel’s robot were a major knife to the heart.

I will say this film had a very typical Pixar timeline like many of their other films. The protagonist gets a wild and big idea, follows through with it, causes a huge problem, tries to solve it, makes things worse, and then cue the happy ending. It works, but due to the predictability, some parts of the film were clear to happen. But at the end of the day their movies are usually hits and so if the system isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

I found this film, like many of Pixar films, to be a cute watch for people of all ages. It is just a feel good film that families and everyone can enjoy no matter if they’re young or old. Pixar really knocked it out of the dam with this one.
