Deadlines and requirement information from CUNY

The City University of New York provides information for all college students attending CUNYs. Their website explains immunization vaccinations and records are required before attending college.
This includes Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and any other vaccinations that are a part of the requirements for CUNY students. “New York State Public Health Law 2165 requires all students entering a post-secondary institution to provide their health services center with immunity to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella.”
For the upcoming fall 2021 semester, campuses like The College of Staten Island are holding in-person classes. Every student should know that before returning to the campus, all students must be vaccinated.
CUNY has listed deadlines for when to get the vaccine so that you are protected. They started a hashtag for students to get their information called VaxUpCUNY.
On their website, they state, “You must submit your vaccination documentation by August 10, 2021.” To meet that deadline of submitting documentation, all students must get vaccinated within specific time slots.
Provided by CUNY, they’ve listed deadlines for each of the vaccinations to get the first dose. Moderna’s first dose deadline is July 13th. Pfizer’s first dose deadline is July 20th. Johnson & Johnson’s single and first dose is August 10th.
All COVID-19 vaccinations are free and available without any appointments, as long as you have your New York State ID that confirms your age and residency. You can find your NYS vaccination site here, or your NYC vaccination site here.
The CUNY website also makes it known that students without the vaccination can request medical exemptions or exceptions from the vaccine. But, they also state that they will provide more guidance on this particular matter soon.
Students who don’t get vaccinated and need to go on campus must take a COVID test with a negative result seven days before entering their school.
The CSI website also provides a re-entry plan with guidance, but it’s a spring 2021 plan and not for the fall semester. Recently, all CSI students should have received an email from Academic Affairs about a new town hall meeting.
The town hall meeting is taking place on Zoom Wednesday, July 14th at 3 pm with co-chairs Hope Berte and Michael Parrish. They will be taking questions about the re-entry of the fall 2021 semester, vaccinations, and campus-related concerns.
A Zoom link is provided in the email for the town hall. If you can’t make the meeting, they will be recording and providing the video on the CSI website.
The College of Staten Island provides information about returning to CSI. Academics, services, and more information is provided on the site, including COVID guidance updates, and the emergency grant funds for students.
